Mechanical engineers for: 1) a new light rail maintenance facility, 2) remodeling an existing maintenance facility, and 3) expansion/reconfiguration of bus and rail control rooms. All project areas involved new or modified piping systems including compressed air, breathable air, chilled water, domestic water, fire protection, and natural gas. Plumbing systems include an indirect shop drainage system, office restroom and shower facilities, and storm drains. ISI sized the systems and specified associated equipment. Project challenges included the coordination of systems and accommodation of design changes at a late stage. The compressed air, breathable air, and fire protection systems serve a large paint booth for light rail vehicles. ISI supported the project schedule and coordinated with several other firms on the design team. The project was completed in 2002.
