City of Portland Provided piping and instrumentation design for intertie stations. The intertie stations provide connections between the three main water conduits that serve Portland, and facilitate pipeline maintenance and overall system reliability. The design includes nine 66-inch valves with motor actuators and controls to coordinate operations. In addition there are a number of bypass, drain, vent, and sampling valves needed to operate the system. ISI specified the controls and instrumentation, which is vital because the system must be online around the clock, covers a large area, and must be centrally coordinated. ISI helped lay out the original design shown in the 3D gallery to provide room for maintenance and meet valve operational restrictions. A value engineering effort was supported, and ISI helped the client redesign the station to separate vaults as shown in the 3D gallery. The project is currently under construction. |
